Wedding Season

We have been to so many friends weddings this summer and all have been super fun and so personal to each couple. 

This weekend we were at our good friends Alice and Jack's amazing wedding at Dilston Grove in Southwark Park. I'm not exactly a pro chalk pen writer but was asked to help out with the signage and table plans for the day and was more that happy to help. Lovely to be able to ease some wedding stress and contribute creatively to our friends wedding!

The drinks menu was named after our old uni haunt - Bar 42, where Alice & Jack actually met for the first time! It's really got me thinking about personal touches for our wedding in November! 


There is a lot in the press at the moment about recycling, avoiding single use plastics and saving the oceans....which is amazing. The amount of plastic and waste polluting our planet is shocking. Lately I have been gradually trying to buy longer lasting reusable products. At the moment my top three items are:

  1. my metal safety razor & blades. Which means no more expensive, wasteful plastic razor handles & blades!

  2. my mooncup. Which means I'll never have to buy any sanitary products ever again, its easier & safer (reduced TSS risk) to use, more hygienic & soooo much better for the planet! 

  3. my reusable make up remover pads! Which means no more plastic bags of cotton pads going into the bin... & I'll save money by reusing them! 

However, as much as recycling and avoiding single use plastics etc is good for the number 1 planet saver will always be GOING VEGAN! This article sums it up pretty well - Link  #govegan #veganartist

Veganuary 2018

I love the start of the year... as it means lots of people will be giving Veganuary a chance! What better way to start the year than doing something as great as trying Vegan! 

Here are just a few of the many positive reasons to try vegan for a month...and hopefully longer!

  1. A plant based diet is suuuuuper healthy! 

  2. Vegan food is colourful, DELICIOUS and guilt free! (no animals harmed in the making!)

  3. Going vegan forces you to read the ingredients of your food...which can make you realise all of the weird/terrible ingredients that you didn't notice before! Giving you more control in what you put into your body. 

  4. A healthy vegan diet can help to mitigate and sometimes even reverse some of the worlds biggest health issues such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity and cancers.

  5. Going vegan is great for the planet! Livestock accounts for more greenhouse gas emissions than the combined exhaust from all transport! Also....have you ever thought about where all the livestock poop goes....

  6. Going vegan saves LOTS of water! The amount of water needed to produce 1 pound of beef can range from 442 to a whopping 8000 gallons! 1,000 gallons of water are required to produce 1 gallon of milk! 

  7. And my favourite reason for a vegan life is that it prevents the torture, harm, abuse and murder of billions of animals every year! If you are an animal lover - live a lifestyle that doesn't hurt animals! 

  8. Experimenting with new vegan dishes is also really fun! Here is one of my favourite recipes to cook for a Friday night treat.... Tofu Nuggets 

A Recipe for World Vegan Day!

Illustrating and cooking vegan food are two of my most favourite things to I thought why not combine the two! In my spare time I have been picking out fun recipes from my notebook of made up recipes! One of my favourite Saturday night dinners is a classic plate of chips, tofu nuggets and peas. It's very simple and not the healthiest dinner but sometimes us vegans need some fried food in our lives! 

My illustrated recipes are still a work in progress but thought I would share the draft it is world vegan day! Recipe written below (need to work on making this one more readable!)

1. Press a block of firm tofu under a plate to remove the moisture. Chop into nugget sized nuggets.

2. Batter mixture :  1 tsp of salt, pepper, 1/2 tsp of paprika, tumeric & garlic powder, 1-1/2 cups of chickpea flour. Mix dry ingredients with water to form a thick batter.

3. Slice up potatoes into your desired chip size! Brush with oil and sprinkle with paprika s & p.

Place on a baking tray & oven bake unitl golden brown.

4. Dip the tofu cubes into the batter followed by a roll in the panko crumbs.

5. Heat up a pan of rapeseed oil and pop in the nuggets. Remove once golden brown & crispy. Rest on some kitchen roll to remove excess oil.

6.Vegan lemony garlicky mayo: a glug of olive oil, a splash of white wine vinegar,  1 crushed garlic clove, a big squeeze of lemon & a pinch of s&p, 1/2 tsp of egg replacer. Whisk, taste and season until this resembles mayo...Or tastes yum. If all esle fails, add some garlic and lemon to veganaise!

7. Boil some frozen peas for that fresh side of greens.

*recipe disclaimer: I'm a freestyler in the kitchen so there’s a lot questionable measurements in this recipe... Therefore plenty of tasting & vegan guesstimations required! :)

World Vegan Day!

Happy world vegan day! Here are some of my favourite vegan meals...worthy of an illustration 🥗🍜🍛🌮 After 20 years of vegetarianism, turning vegan over 3 years ago was one of the best things I've ever done!

For me...I'm healthier, feel great & have become a better cook (well I think so). But the most important reasons I am a proud vegan are that I'm not putting my tastebuds before animals suffering, no animals are harmed for my dinners & cutting out animal products is so important to reduce the impact on our environment ✌🏼🌏

Happy Birthday Meredith!

Today is my bestie's 30th birthday! So I have put together 30 things: memories from our childhood, travels around the world, her favourite foods, animals and lots more! It was very difficult selecting things from 25 years of friendship and fun times! Now I'm up in Liverpool I don't get to see her as often as I'd like, but I'm looking forward to a trip to London soon!  Happy birthday Meredith!


Roald Dahl Day 2017

Today is Roald Dahl day and I am excited to list two new prints on my Etsy shop!


The first is the BFG's Snozzcumber I drew last year to celebrate what would have been Roald Dahl's 100th birthday.

The second is a new print inspired by my favourite Roald Dahl story, James and the Giant Peach! Which perfectly combines my love of drawing food and insects! You might recognise a few of the insects I have adapted from my insect alphabet!

Food Illustration

After drawing a veggie burger for national burger day, I decided to start building up my portfolio of food art! Being a vegan, I also thought I'd use this as an opportunity to show some of my favourite vegan treats and recipes! 

I think I a lot of non-vegans assume that vegans only eat salad and 'rabbit' food. Changing my diet from vegetarian to vegan actually made my diet a lot more exciting and varied. As a veggie I often went for the quick easy/boring meals....Pasta and cheese, margarita pizza, omelette on toast, cheese sandwiches for lunch....almost every day! I was pretty much a cheese addict and never thought I'd be able to give it up... but 3 years later and I never crave even crave it! My diet is now definitely more healthy dropping the cheesy dinners...and my meals are certainly more exciting to draw! 

Asian food is my favourite cuisine and great for vegans as it typically doesn't contain any diary products and its easy to swap out egg for tofu and eat rice/wheat noodles instead of egg noodles.  I hope you enjoy my food illustrations!
