Hi, I’m April — an artist, illustrator, and mum to two wonderful boys (and two rescue cats). Originally from London, I now call the Wirral home, enjoying the beaches, fresh air, and a slightly slower pace of life.

My creative journey began in architecture, where I spent nine years studying and working in practice. I graduated from Newcastle and Westminster Universities with a BA (Hons), Master of Architecture, and Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Practice. After all that studying (and not much sleep!), I realised my true passion was for art and illustration. So, I traded in AutoCAD for sketchbooks — and I’ve been drawing ever since.

For the past ten years, I’ve been working as a freelance illustrator under April Illustrations, collaborating on a diverse range of projects. One highlight was creating animal illustrations for a documentary, which felt like a dream project. I also sell prints and products through my Etsy shop.

My work is inspired by animals, nature, and the vibrant colours of everyday life. A dedicated vegan for over twelve years, I’m passionate about wildlife and caring for the environment — themes that often find their way into my illustrations.

When I’m not creating, I love cooking, exploring the outdoors, and running (I recently completed my third half marathon).
